Zadar Cruise Port Introduces Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Programme
Zadar Cruise Port has become the first cruise port in Croatia to introduce the internationally recognised Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Programme. As part of a Global Ports Holding network wide rollout, the programme reflects the port’s ongoing commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring every visitor can enjoy their journey with confidence in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Guests displaying the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower can receive additional support, understanding and flexibility during their time at the terminal. The symbol provides a discreet way to indicate that someone may need additional assistance, without requiring them to disclose personal details, while respecting each guest’s privacy and independence.

“Hospitality means recognising the needs of every guest, even when those needs are not immediately visible. By joining the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme, we want to further empower our team to provide understanding, support and a sense of security to everyone who begins or ends their journey at Zadar Cruise Port.
We believe that inclusion is not simply a standard of service, but an essential part of genuine hospitality.”
– Rebeka V. Pevec, MBA, General Manager, Zadar Cruise Port
To support the introduction of the programme, guest-facing employees throughout the terminal have been equipped to recognise the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower and provide appropriate assistance where needed. Sunflower lanyards will also be avilable at designated locations within the terminal for guests who wish to discreetly indicate they may benefit from additional support during their visit.
Launched in the United Kingdom in 2016, the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a globally recognised initiative that uses the simple Sunflower symbol to discreetly indicate that a person has a non visible disability and may require additional assistance, understanding or time. Today, the programme is recognised by airports, ports, airlines, rail operators, visitor attractions and businesses around the world, helping create more accessible and inclusive environments for millions of people.
